Black Swan

black-swan-poster

I was totally clueless about this movie until a Hongkong friend mentioned in Facebook that Black Swan is as good as Inception.

At first i thought that’s like a big statement to make but after watching the trailer, I told myself that I CANNOT miss this movie and being damn kiasu, I bought tickets even before CNY and watch it on the second day of CNY :D

And so as it turns out - no disappointment at all and in fact, everything was above expectations. Natalie Portman totally deserves an Oscar for her performance in this movie!

She led us through the emotional roller coaster of Nina – the NYC ballerina who’s a perfectionist and obsessed with getting the lead role in Swan Lake.
The way she transcends from the pure White Swan to the sensual Black Swan which eventually led to her self-destruction was totally convincing!

At the end of the movie, I was so mentally drained that I got a slight headache.
I’m hardly ever affected by movies and this goes to show the impact of the movie!

The one and only disappointment actually came from our local censors.
They had to cut a very important scene which I thought was the climax of showing how Nina finally understood what the ballet director has been trying to tell her to “let go and free herself” to bring out the character of Black Swan. MDA.. extremely paranoid! ~!@#$%
