Cheer Chen - A Piece of Summer II

Since 2007, it's been a yearly affair to catch her live performance.
In these two years, her fans (me included) were blessed with two different round of concerts :)

In 2007, Cheer did A Piece of Summer at MAX Pavilion.
This year, she's back again at the same venue with A Piece of Summer II.
I'm not sure if the concert venue was intentional but both were held at MAX Pavilion while The Sun (last year) was held at SIS. Then again, it might also be because Grasshopper was at SIS on the same day and hence, Cheer had to be at MAX Pavilion.

Cheer telling the fans her encounter with the Merlion. She's been to Singapore a few times but never visited the Merlion before until now. And that's how she gestured Merlion. Looks more like Fortune Cat than Merlion! :P

Anyhow, it's still a wonderful experience to be at her concert.
She's a really good example that as long as you have the ability to charm the audience, you do not need to wear fanciful clothes or have stunning stage effects to do a good concert. Stage presence + the ability to produce good music and being true to yourself is good enough :)

I really like the Summer segment where percussions took centre stage.
This is a rare scene in Cheer's concert as it is usually her and her usual rock band or her doing solo with her guitar.
And so her usual tunes were re-arranged and it was refreshing to hear those arrangements. The way how she stroke the frog is just too damn amusing and i kept laughing at it :D

And with this concert, i conclude that amongst those female singers i like who composes their own songs, she's really the best to watch on stage with just her and her guitar. She's really my favorite guitarist :)

Hopefully there'll be another round of concert in 2011! :D
