And so 2009 compensated me with lotsa good music :)
So good, that i am having a little difficulty listing the order of my top 10 fave albums. Anyway, here are the top 10! :)
Cheer Chen - Immortal

She has been singing for about 12 years already and this is only her 5th album.
She takes an average of about 3 years to release an album, this is definitely not a norm in the fast-moving Chinese music industry.
Great album concept and all the songs are notable singles on its own.
There's this certain 'aura' in her music that i don't really know how to explain but somehow, i'm just very attracted to the aura. Maybe you'll understand what i am saying if you watch her perform live :)
And i was very very surprised that her album topped Singapore's HMV chart for the year's best selling Chinese album. Totally out of expectation that her album can sell so well in Singapore! Goes to show that Chinese music listeners (album buyers) are more accepting towards less commercialized singers now. Very Good! :)
Deserts Chang - City

This album is very different from her first two albums.
And the most important element which caused the difference is cos she collaborated with a band, Algae - to produce a more rock album.
She don't have a rocker voice, but somehow, her more folksy and less rocker voice together with her unique lyrics and the band contributed to the production of a fantastic album. Once listen, forever hooked :)
Tanya Chua - If You See Him

Oh yes, she has appeared again.
She's like bak kwa to me during Chinese New Year - Every year also must have :)
This time, she showed even more depth in her lyrics writing and the music never disappoints. Together with her singing capabilities, she has set a high benchmark - a standard that very few Chinese pop singers can achieve.
Mavis Fan - Innocent

I mentioned before in a post in October why i like this album so much.
It's really good to see a singer doing music that she truly enjoys :)
Amit - Amit

Similar to Mavis Fan's, i mentioned about Amit also in the same post.
'Split personality' is gooood for a singer! :D
I've put in the playlist, some of the more radio-friendly songs for the top 5 albums.
And #6 to #10 are:
#6 ~ Penny Tai 戴佩妮 <原諒我就是這樣的女生>: It's All About Love & 這就是我
Penny, Tanya & Cheer are the reasons why the lazy me is learning guitar now.
As you guys might know, i love singing.
It'll really be a dream come true, if i can sing and play the guitar.
But judging from my progress and my laziness, i really don't think i can ever reach that stage. Haha!
#7 ~ Jam Hsiao
I ever said before, his voice is not my cuppa tea.
I take back all my words. I love his voice and songs now :p
#8 ~ Eason Chan
Very nice song written by Tanya for Eason.
Eason actually rejected Tanya's works before. Tsktsk..
#9 ~ Khalil Fong
The soul boy of Chinese music.
His songs are in a league of its own, very uniquely Khalil Fong style.
The director of this MV is Penny Tai.
Penny even did photography for album photos for some singers during her break period. How cool huh..
#10 ~ Utada <This is the One>
This is her 3rd English album and i do prefer this album over the other two.
But she's still at her best when she sings in Japanese.
