Yet another month is coming to an end.
I better have another post before October closes :p
Recently, I've been listening to three albums.
The first is my long-time favourite, Tanya.
It's really amazing how she can stick to the same style yet each album there's still something different about it. I guess it's probably the same like writing a story.
If the concept is good, then you can write a whole series of stories with it.
The other two albums are singers which I've probably never mentioned before.
They are established singers, totally not new to the Chinese music industry but coincidentally for their most recent album, they are doing music very differently from how they used to be.
A-Mei is known as Amit in her most recent album and I've to say that this 'split' personality is a good one! For those who are wondering what Amit is, it's actually A-Mei's aboriginal name.
It may seem gimmicky that A-Mei is doing this album as Amit but after listening to the album, I totally understand why such a concept developed. I guess after being known as the pop diva who's fantastic in crooning power ballads and also hyping audience with her stage presence with her fast songs, it's time that A-Mei needed a change and hence we have the rocker A-Mei with the stage name - Amit!
I'm kind of glad that she 're-branded' herself as Amit for this album because if she didn't, i probably wouldn't even listen to this album cos I ain't exactly a big A-Mei fan :P
Here's one of my favourite in this album.
A very poignant slow-rock song - ζδΊ.
Next up is Mavis Fan.
If she says she has gone through the biggest change throughout her singing career, i bet nobody will dare to challenge that. Well, at least not in Chinese music industry :p
From the children's song singer to a pop idol and then now a serious musician with a band behind her. This woman is really crazy.
And it's really what she has been through that gave her a clear goal of what she wanted to do. She went through depression and nearly committed suicide. And now, she seems so much at ease doing what she wants.
This is not her first album collaboration with the band 100% but i enjoyed this album more than the previous. And here's one of my favourite song - ζη½ (live version).
