I went to watch this just now with two other people..
One which can be considered quite an X-Files fan.
The other one, caught a few episodes of X-Files here and there..
As usual, being the cheena i've always been, i have the slightest idea about X-Files.
I only know it's some 'cop investigation series'.
But i don't know that it's to do with ET.... and i'm never a fan of such stuff.
The only reason why i agreed to watch is because..
My friend don't wanna watch Pathology.
And i thought X-Files, don't think will be crappy, so ok lor.
So as some might have guess, i didn't enjoy the show.
30 minutes after the movie started, i whispered to my friend: "This movie is testing my patience.."
And for those who are intending to watch..
Watch out, spoilers ahead.
Now, here's what i don't like:
1. The stupid Father Jo, he gets on my nerves each time he appear.
Does it have to be so cheesy? Can't psychic be portrayed in another way?
2. It's totally unconvincing that a doctor will surf online for an operation which she'll be doing the next day. (Especially not when she is suppose to be a damn good doctor.)
3. The ending where FBI conveniently say that the Father is the accomplice and main lead is the only one who's defending and feeling the injustice for him. I hate this kind of storyline.
I think it's to do with the fact that i never watch X-Files before.
I definitely can't feel the 'nostalgic' feeling that my friend was describing, nor do i find the film entertaining as a movie on its own.
For me, it's either that the movie is simple but gives you a 'feel-good' feeling (e.g. Leap Years / Saving Face), or the movie has a good underlying message (e.g. Accuracy of Death) or it's just purely entertaining (e.g. Red Cliff / Transformers) or it has got a reasonably good storyline with great setting (e.g. 881 / NANA).
For this movie, i know it's suppose to be good (at least it's not crappy), but i really cannot see the good of it.
The only notable thing should be the two main leads, they are good-looking and has got good acting & chemistry. Period.
And no, i didn't fall asleep while watching yea.
Hard to believe huh...
