No, nothing to do with Mid-Autumn Festival
or so called Lantern Festival / Mooncake Festival
by modern Singaporeans now.
In this instance:
月 = month
光 = run out of that 光 (not light that 光)
族 = group; clan
So...
月光族
= people who use up all their $ for the month.
= people who don't save, people who spend every single cent
= Leafie
yes, that's me.. muahahhaha..
My Taiwan friend taught me this phrase.
Quite nice right. Don't sound like something not nice.
