I really cannot understand this day.
And this year, it seems to be even more magnified that this is a truly very commercialized day.
In my cubicle, sits 3 male colleagues:
K - Married with a 1 yr old kid.
T - Just got married in Dec 2008.
L - First valentine's day with girlfriend.
So yesterday, T was looking for flowers on the web for his wife.
K took the opportunity to tease L saying he should buy flowers for the girlfriend since this is the first V-Day for them. And as expected, L said he don't see a point in wasting money.
So T joined in the fun and said L should give flowers to the girlfriend as this is a good day to show your love (and whatever) to your girlfriend.
Now, what i do not understand is - Why do guys wanna send flowers to the girl's office? Can anyone say there's no element of showing off here?
It makes even lesser sense if you are giving the flowers to your wife in her office.
You see your wife everyday, can't you give her at home?
You mean it'll be a lesser surprise / love if she receives it at home?
And what's worse, today is Friday the 13, not Valentine's Day!
So if it's not showing off, i don't know what is it man.
I have to clarify that I have nothing against guys giving flowers.
But I really do not understand at all this whole office-flowers-thing on V-Day.
So anyway, to the guys: Show your love to your girl everyday, not only on V-Day. Trust me, a bouquet of flowers on any other day will be a even bigger surprise than on V-Day.
And to the female species: Don't fall trap into this whole consumerism shit.
Don't be sad if you don't receive any flowers from your guy on V-Day, he is just being smart and showing his love for you in other form.
And to my single friends out there, Happy Friendship Day! :D
If you need a flower, take the above!
