Cleaning for Spring

So I'm on leave today cos i needed some time to clear my stuff.
And I'm pretty thankful that we have something called 'Spring-cleaning', to remind us that we SHOULD clear out our unwanted stuff.

And that day over our weekly meeting, my Indian boss (yes, he's from India) found out about this practice we have and he is kind of amazed by it.
He asked: "So you mean the Chinese don't clean their house in other times during the year?" Oh man, communication breakdown i tell you -.-

So the main point is, I have stacks of greeting cards in my cupboard which i kept from 1996 till now!

I actually tied them up in stacks according to the year that i received the cards.
Of course as expected, each year the number of cards i receive depletes.
And as i was clearing, i read the messages in the cards and some really made me smile.

I guess Technology made it such that it's so easy to keep in touch with friends.
SMS / Phone / Email / MSN / and the all sinful Facebook.
Some people even organize gatherings through Facebook!
This is how we humans have degenerated and succumbed to the convenience of Technology.

And it's also probably I'm a freaking adult.
Adults like to act like they have grown up and won't want people to think that they have the time to buy / make cards.

Actually, who am i to say all this when i myself have stopped giving people cards.
I don't even remember when i last gave a card to someone.

In a few occasions, i wanted to give cards to my friends on their birthdays.
But somehow or rather, it just didn't happen.
Or i think most likely, i was just acting like an adult.
Though so, I'm thankful that i still do get some handmade birthday cards from my friends who are also adults :)

And just in case you're wondering if i threw the cards since I'm suppose to be spring-cleaning. Yes, i did.

I threw like 80% of the cards, mainly the festive greeting cards.
I decided to keep those handmade ones, and those that contains words that my friends wrote years ago.

I shall keep it and show it to them when i have an opportunity and we'll laugh at how good it is to be young :)
