So on Sat, i celebrated my birthday with Cheer Chen + Tanya and a few other artistes and a few thousand people :)
Guitar-themed stage.. Idea! :)
Ignore that balding man in the pic.
We reached on time but as usual, like wedding dinners, Singaporeans just don't know how to be punctual for concerts. Irritating -.-
Concert started at 8.25pm and lasted slightly more than three hours, without encores.
'Souvenir' from Nokia, the sponsor.
Ignore that hideous orange thing in the pic.
Dunno why they choose to give lanyard, i guess the only reason is to advertise Nokia Music Store which they printed information of it on the back.
Zhang Zhen Yue, Jonathan Lee & Chau Wakin
For those who don't know, the concert was initiated by Jonathan Lee.
He now makes guitars (yes, make guitar.. not just play) and he has got a guitar factory in Beijing. I think it really takes a lot of passion and love for the guitar to do something like that.
Given his high profile in the music industry, he could have just write songs and be a music producer and earn enough to feed him a few lifetimes.
What an impressive old man.. Keke.
Tanya Chua
Jonathan Lee initiated this concert and the whole idea of the concert was for the artistes to share their music+guitar journey.
I enjoyed the story part a lot :)
It's interesting to know the stories behind these singers and how guitar has become a part of their life.
Cheer Chen
So the push factor which made me watch this concert is Tanya Chua and Cheer Chen. Kinda sad that they sang only about 5 songs each, while the rest of the singers were given more air-time :(
MayDay
And i conclude that i really cannot appreciate MayDay.
This was suppose to be a unplugged concert but the moment they came out, they disrupted the nice peaceful unplugged concert with their loud noisy rock music.
And it doesn't help that A-Xin sings with his nose. Irritating -.-
Finale - Old Guitar (which Tanya's voice was the loudest because it's an English song!)
Surprisingly, i wasn't bored by Chau Wakin and Jonathan Lee!
Chau Wakin is really very good at being funny with words :)
Jonathan Lee is really a very inspirational old man, let's see if it's enough to inspire me and get me started on the long overdue guitar lessons. Haha!
I think their main purpose of putting MayDay in this concert is really to push the ticket sales. But then again, from the response of the crowd, it seems like there weren't a lot of people who went to watch them.
Anyway, I still cannot get over the fact that Cheer Chen and Tanya Chua were given so little time. Really hope they can hold a solo concert sooooooooooon...
