Gin - the anti Facebook-er might just decide to skip this post? :p
'Inspired' by this week's 8 Days, i shall share these with my blog readers.
There's 15 on 8 Days and here are the essence..
1. Do not write anything on anyone's Facebook Wall that can land them in hot soup. (e.g. Eh, saw you kissing this girl who doesn't look like your girlfriend!")
Remember, Walls have ears.
2. Do not assume that people want a play-by-play of your tedious little life.
Nobody cares that you're in the shower one second and putting on nail polish the next.
3. Do not tag your friends in photos in which they look drunk, fat, or are missing articles of clothing. Even if you look fab in those photos, you don't want to start a bout of revenge tagging. (I beg to differ for this. Except for missing clothing, i think tagging people in anything else is fine! Cos i'm being tagged so much in ugly photos, so I DON'T CARE! Keke..)
4. Do not be a Facebook Whore.
The gist is: Only add people that you can match the name and face with.
5. Do not be passive-aggressive.
If you're unhappy with someone, take the issue up in person.
Do not write things like "Why did you do that to me?"
6. Do not use Facebook for work-related matters.
Only idiots do that, really.
7. Do not flood friends with invitations to play Texas Hold'Em poker, Vampire Wars.. (Yes, i am a person who don't do any of those on Facebook and i find the applications quite irritating sometimes.)
8. Do not engage in FDA (Facebook Displays of Affection) with your beau.
Do not write thing things like "I Love You, Baby. And i can't type properly because you're lying on my lap" (Eeeewwwwww.. Pukish.)
9. Do not break up by changing your relationship to "Single".
(Please refer to #5 above)
10. Lastly.. Do not complain if people do any or all of the above! Nobody is forcing you to be on Facebook!
And I've seen this happening time and again to my friends:
Do not put sensitive information like phone number, address on Facebook.
Some people out there might just use these information for things that you might never imagine.
