Please Vote for Me

Caught this at National Museum quite some time ago.
It's one of the film in a programme of the National Museum Cinematheque - Youth In Chinese Flims After 49.

The one i went, consists of two documentaries.
The first one is about the cultural revolution and the way it's filmed is quite morbid (maybe because it's black and white).
And i fell asleep 50% of the time cos it was too heavy and dry.

It's a very big contrast between the two documentaries.

Please Vote For Me is really very interesting and hilarious!
And because they touch on a rather sensitive topic, it's banned in China for public screening.

Do check it out if you have 45 minutes for a highly-entertaining short film :)

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5

In an elementary school in the city of Wuhan in central China, three eight-year-old students campaign for the coveted position of class monitor. This is the first election for a class leader to be held in China. The three candidates hold debates, campaign tirelessly and show their intellectual and artistic skills, until one is voted the winner. Their parents, devoted to their only child, take part and start to influence the results.
