Winged Tooth

Went dentist just now to fix the corrected Maryland bridge.
The corrected one really looks a lot better :)

Here's how the Maryland bridge works:

An impression of the tooth will first be taken using a mould.
Thereafter, the dentist will send the mould to the lab for making the bridge.

No grinding of good neighboring teeth involved.
Metal wing used to support the false tooth.

After the bridge is done, the dentist will fix the bridge.
This type of bridge combines a composite resin cemented to acid etched enamel and an acid etched cast metal framework. The Maryland Bridge improves the bond strength of the restoration three-fold over earlier perforated resin-bonded retainers.

Apparently, a Maryland bridge can last up to 10 years!
But i don't see how anyone can live with this for 10 years.
Maybe it's cos i still have a swollen gum, but I can feel the metal piece on my teeth now and it feels rather weird.

FYI, my pain was only for the first day after the extraction.
I was given a very strong painkiller and the pain subsided a little bit.
I went to bed with the pain and i thought it'll be DAMN bad the next day.
Miraculously, i can hardly feel the pain the next day!
But swelling is still bad even until now, but it should go in another few more days.

Anyway, i heard good news from my dentist just now.

He said my healing is fantastic for a surgery done after five days :)
Usually, you'll have to wait ten days before removing the stitches.
But because the healing was good.. He removed it just now! :)

I think it's because i don't smoke and i hardly drink.
These are important factors which will affect the healing process.
So people who are still doing harm to your body, it's time to quit smoking and drink less!

And he said looking at the healing process, the bone integration should be good also which means i can avoid doing one of the surgery procedure (for some bad cases) during the implant! :D

The implant will take about 3 to 4 sessions to complete.
For now, it's four months of winged-tooth before i go for the first session of the implant on 5th Nov.
