First Day at GV..

I guess i should blog about it since everyone is so concerned about me :)
(thick-skinned. muahahah..)

I was given a really damn brief orientation by a fellow Cinema Exec.
She brought me around GV Plaza and took less than 10mins to 'orientate' me -.-

After that, i was 'thrown' into the Box Office to learn to sell tickets.
Was attached to two full-time Box Office crew just now.

One is an auntie who's been working for GV for 10+yrs.
I'm pretty amazed how she can stay in the job for 10+yrs man, quite madness.

The other is a young man whom i can't figure why he is a full-time crew.
He is young (or rather, he looks young), think should be around my age..
Pretty eloquent and quite smart and diligent.
Maybe i over-assessed him since i only interacted a few hours with him,
but from what i gathered of him, i feel that he is capable of doing more
than just selling tickets.

I think Singapore must be really boring!
Freaking Thursday and so many many people are watching movies!
My shift was 12pm - 8pm and i hardly got time to breathe!
And.. They don't have 1-hour lunch/dinner time for cinema staff.
That explains the 8-hour shift, cos they'll let you eat
for 20 minutes when there's not much crowd.
This practice is perfectly fine with me,
since 1-hour lunching alone might seem too long anyway. Keke..

Summarising first day:
- Not really satisfied with a damn short orientation.
- Singaporeans really have nothing much to do except movies.
- Overwhelmed by the zillion types of gift vouchers / complimentary passes.
- GV box office system can be further improvised.

This is really a very different job from what i used to do.
It's pretty dynamic, fast-paced and you can get to see all sorts of people/patrons.

Anyway, will need some time to settle myself in and get used to the irregular working hours.

明天會更好 :)
