It's REALLY a good film, go watch it!
There isn't really any particular storyline.
The entire flim just revolves around drugs, particulary heroin.
And i think Hongkong film-makers really like to uglify HK Police.
Every film where the story involves the HK Police,
they have to show something bad about it.
I like this film for the research done for it.
The Director and crew must have done a lot of prior research.
The heroin production process, the Golden Triangle Poppy Garden etc...
It really stunned me.
Those who wanna catch this film for Louis Koo...... forget it.
He's a jerk in the film, totally uncool and yucks...
I'm not a fan of him but the two films i recently caught, both have him.
I'm beginning to think that his worth is a bit over-stated -.-
Daniel Wu still looks good and cool but his acting can really be better..
He's got such a meaty undercover role,
he really should do more justice to it.
Andy Lau is still as good as ever.
Great acting given the fact that he's not the main main lead.
The person to look out for in this film is - 張靜初 Zhang Jingchu
She act as a drug addict, not out of choice but it's controversial.
She's the most pathetic character in the entire film.
Louis Koo is her drug addict loser husband.
She took on drugs because she wanted to show
Louis Koo that it's possible to quit it.
But everything aside, her acting is REALLY good.
Read news articles on the film and the Director was so worried
that she'll not be able to withdraw from her role that he made her
'stay back' after filming is done each day to 'settle down' before
leaving the set.
If she's not given nominations in the Chinese movie awards this year,
SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG!
My movie kakis felt that the message to make people
stay out of drugs is not strong, because of the ending.
But i felt that it was actually quite ok
because the underlying message is that -
Don't be even near it cos nothing good will come out of it.
