the travel industry...
picked up a call today, was a hotelier,
she was looking for my manager.
she recognized my voice and said:
"hey, huimin! i heard you are leaving?"
i only met her once & talked for less than 10 mins,
how the heck did she know?!? maybe that's how this
industry works.. when someone leaves, everyone knows.
found out from her later that it was my manager
who told her about it. she asked me the same qn that
i've been asked umpteen times these few wks:
"so where are you going next?"
[note: thr is 101 ways to ask tis qn and ultimately
the answer is e same!!]
she said she was glad that we crossed paths
and would like to have coffee with me.
she's quite nice, pretty young & is alr regional
director of sales of a hotel group. so i said ok to
her coffee meet-up but we did not fix where and when..
or maybe she was just trying to chat with me cos i
m still her customer so to say.
a few things went through my mind after that:
1. i met her once only & we never know each other b4,
is it so impt to catch up?
2. maybe she thinks i'll still be in the travel industry.. networking?
3. maybe she's desperate for help and wants me to work for her?
so it all brings me to a conclusion..
when you step into this industry, everyone who's already
in the industry assumes that you'll stay in the industry
for LIFE and never get out of it!!
when i just started out, i remember my boss
saying something about us quitting:
"why would anyone wants to leave??
this industry is so exciting to work in!!"
**CRAP**
anyway... where will i be going next?
this is a question that i've been asking
myself these few weeks also. hopefully i'll
find an answer to it soon... real soooon........
